Secrets of History for Future Philologists: Participants of the Belarusian Language Olympiad Camp Visit the State Archives of the Minsk Region

The State Archives of the Minsk Region welcomed unusual guests – students of the Belarusian Language Olympiad Summer Camp. For these students, who are deeply involved in studying their native language, preserving historical and cultural heritage is especially important, so the visit to the archive provided them with valuable practical experience.

The tour of the institution was rich and informative. The meeting began with a tour of the archives. The students learned how and under what conditions the preservation of unique primary sources is ensured.

Then, in the reading room, the young philologists were presented with a presentation of the new documentary film «Archive.Life». The students watched with great interest the film, which depicts the daily life of the staff and dispels stereotypes about archival work.

The finale was an exclusive exhibition of archival documents. The children were able to experience the yellowed pages of their native land’s history firsthand and study original materials. This experience of working with primary sources serves as a stimulus for learning the language and culture, inspiring the children to new achievements.
