Traveling Through Time: Seventh-graders from Minsk Gymnasium No.14 Solved the Mysteries of the State Archives of the Minsk Region

On the eve of Children’s Day, June 1st, the State Archives of the Minsk Region opened its doors to seventh-graders from Minsk Gymnasium No.14. A rich interactive program was prepared for the children, allowing them to try on the roles of historians and researchers.

Their introduction to the archive began with a visit to the archive storage room. The children saw how documents are stored and immediately got involved in the game. A quest game, «Treasure Hunt», was organized for them. Divided into teams, the students searched for secret documents, demonstrating their ingenuity, team spirit, and attentiveness to solve the repository’s main mystery.

Then the children moved to the reading room. Here, an intellectual quiz, «Find the Mistake», was held for the guests, where the students actively answered questions, demonstrating their logic and erudition.

A presentation of the new film «Archive.Life», dedicated to promoting archival work and dispelling stereotypes about archivists’ work, was also held in the reading room for seventh-graders.

The program concluded with a unique exhibition of archival documents. The students were able to experience their native region’s past firsthand and explore important historical evidence from a bygone era.

At the end of the meeting, all participants received well-deserved sweet prizes for their excellent knowledge and successful completion of the quest.

The interactive day at the archive helped the students understand that archival collections are a living and fascinating history of our country.
