The Orsha State Archives at the presentation of Larisa Brueva’s first book, «Preserving the Memory of Generations»
On May 19, 2026, employees of the Orsha Zonal State Archives attended the presentation of Larisa Brueva’s first book, «Preserving the Memory of Generations», held at the State Educational Institution «Orsha Secondary School No.20 named after I.A.Flerov».
«Preserving the Memory of Generations» is a colorfully illustrated book, rich with unique photographs, military maps, combat reports, and other valuable historical information. It describes the bloody battles for Vitebsk in the fall and winter of 1943-1944, the initial stage of the Belarusian strategic offensive Operation Bagration, the search movement, its origins and challenges, and the joint work of Belarusian and Russian search teams to restore and preserve the memory of soldiers killed and missing during the Great Patriotic War. The book’s authors are Larisa Brueva, a researcher and chair of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Veterans’ Committee for the Perpetuation of the Memory of Defenders of the Fatherland and Victims of War; Marina Frolova, a public figure from Moscow; and Viktor Tereshchenko, a WWII veteran and local historian.
One copy of the book, autographed by Larisa Brueva, was donated to the State Archives in Orsha.
