Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day at the State Archives of the Brest Region

April 26 is Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day.

In anticipation of the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, a staff meeting was held at the State Archives of the Brest Region. During the meeting, the archive staff was shown the documentary film «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.

On April 17, 2026, Anna Karapuzova, Director of the State Archives of the Brest Region, took part in the opening of the exhibition «The Unpeaceful Atom of Chernobyl», organized at the Brest Regional Museum of Local History and dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.

The exhibition features items from the museum’s collection, personal belongings of the accident liquidators, photocopies of paintings from the «Black Tale» series by artist Mikhail Savitsky, and more. Documents from the State Archives of the Brest Region on this topic were also on display.
