The Krichev Zonal State Archives held events as part of the «Young Archivist» pilot project and a film lecture series

On April 23, 2026, as part of the national «Archives for School» campaign, a thematic memory lesson dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster was held for 8th-grade students of Secondary School No.8 at the City Library No.1 branch in collaboration with Victoria Kondratenko, lead archivist at the Krichev Zonal State Archives.

The event included a presentation entitled «The Unforgettable Tragedy of Chernobyl» and a screening of the film «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.

During the event, participants were treated to a fascinating account of the tragic events that occurred in 1986 and their impact on the population and the environment. They also watched the film «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy», which fostered a deeper understanding of the historical facts and served as a reminder of the importance of preserving the memory of what happened and the need to prevent similar incidents in the future. The children also enjoyed a poster exhibition, «Chernobyl: A View Through the Decades».
