Representatives of the National Information Agency of Belarus participated in a dialogue platform dedicated to the anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy

On April 17, 2026, a dialogue platform entitled «The Chernobyl Disaster: 40 Years Later» was held at the Pioneer Cinema, bringing together young people and representatives of the capital’s workforce. The event was attended by Elena Doroshenko, Chair of the NIA Belarus primary trade union organization, and Evgeny Zavadsky, Chair of the BRSM archive primary organization.

The meeting included a discussion of the environmental, social, and legislative aspects of overcoming the consequences of the accident. Vladimir Zubrik, Chairman of the Minsk City Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Employees of State and Other Institutions, addressed the participants with a welcoming address.

The keynote speaker was Zhanna Chernyavskaya, Chair of the Standing Committee on Ecology, Nature Management, and the Chernobyl Disaster of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. She spoke in detail about the state policy for the rehabilitation of the affected areas and how, over the past decades, Belarus has transformed the «exclusion zone» into a region of recovery.

The participation of representatives of the NHA of Belarus in such events strengthens civic engagement and allows for the dissemination of up-to-date information on the country’s socio-ecological development to the workforce.
