On the Participation of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus in the National Cleanup Day

On April 18, 2026, the National Cleanup Day took place. It continued the glorious historical chronicle of creation, rooted in the distant past and largely predetermined by today’s peaceful and comfortable life for Belarusians. The National Cleanup Day has undoubtedly already become a trend in our country.

Such initiatives are an excellent opportunity for team building and for effectively spending time on Saturday. Spring cleanup days, which began in 1919, remain popular, transforming cleanup into social interaction, improving the psychological climate, and helping to beautify homes and workplaces.

On March 31, the Government of the Republic of Belarus adopted Resolution No.150 «On the Holding of the National Cleanup Day in 2026».

The April cleanup day at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (NARB) focused on cleaning and improving work areas and premises, as well as improving memorial sites.

Archive staff worked at five sites. On April 15, five people cleaned the grave of former NARB employee V.V.Skalaban. On April 16, the graves of World War II veteran and former director of the Central State Archives of the Republic of Belarus (TsGAOR) A.M.Karpachev and former head of the Belarusian archival sector V.I.Adamushko were cleaned. NARB staff laid flowers and honored the memory of their colleagues.

On April 18, before the start of the cleanup day, a ceremonial meeting was held in the NARB main building, at which the archive’s management spoke. NARB Deputy Director E.A.Stukanova spoke about the traditions of holding cleanup days in our republic and noted the importance and significance of these events. The NARB team organized work in the buildings at 116 Nezavisimosti Avenue, 12/1 Makayenka Street, and 26 Kozlova Street. Workers tidied up their work areas, archive storage facilities, and other areas.

Also, on April 18, 2026, V.A.Baranov, Chief Engineer of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, participated in a cleanup day at the Trostenets Memorial Complex (Blagovshchina tract) together with the Minsk City Organization of the Republican Public Association «Belaya Rus».
