As part of the «Volgograd-Vitebsk: Memory of Generations» project, the «Glory to Heroes» Memorial Day event was held for the Vitebsk City Branch of the BRSM

The Vitebsk Region State Archives held the «Glory to Heroes» Memorial Day event for the Vitebsk City Branch of the BRSM as part of the «Volgograd-Vitebsk: Memory of Generations» project.

In the lobby, BRSM members enjoyed exhibition stands of archival documents, «The Memory of Heroes Is Eternal» (State Government Institution of the Volgograd Region «State Archives of the Volgograd Region») and «In the Summer of 1944» (State Archives of the Vitebsk Region); and a banner exhibition of documents, «Craft after Crater, This Land Is Hollowed and Twisted…» (State Archives of the Vitebsk Region).

A lecture was also held about Colonel General I.I.Lyudnikov, defender of Stalingrad and liberator of Vitebsk, and the perpetuation of his memory in Vitebsk.

The film «Liberation of Vitebsk» from the BGAKFFD collection was shown.

As part of the event, archive staff conducted four quests.

The winners received gifts from the archive.

1. The event opens with the «Glory to Heroes» Memorial Day, prepared by the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region for the Vitebsk City Organization of the BRSM, Second Secretary Victoria Petrova.

2. A screening of a chronicle of the liberation of Vitebsk from the BGAKFFD collection is underway by participants of the «Glory to Heroes» Memorial Day as part of the «Volgograd-Vitebsk: Memory of Generations» project.

3-4. A lecture about Colonel General I.I.Lyudnikov, defender of Stalingrad and liberator of Vitebsk, and the perpetuation of his memory in Vitebsk will be given by Yulia Kiseleva, leading archivist at the Vitebsk Region State Archives.

5–8. In the foyer, participants will explore exhibitions about the Battle of Stalingrad and the liberation of Vitebsk and participate in quests about mine clearance, monuments in Volgograd and Vitebsk, Victory Square in Vitebsk, and animals that participated in the war.

9–11. The awards ceremony will take place for the winners of the «Glory to Heroes» Memorial Day quests as part of the «Volgograd-Vitebsk: Memory of Generations» project.
