A roundtable discussion at the State Archives of the Brest Region

On April 9, 2026, a roundtable discussion was held at the State Archives of the Brest Region. Representatives of the District Methodological Association of Extended-Day Group Teachers of the Leninsky District of Brest, affiliated with the State Institution «Educational and Methodological Office of the Leninsky District of Brest», participated in the discussion.

Galina Kalustova, Head of the Document Use and Publication Department, spoke to the guests about the archive’s history, its structure, areas of activity, and the composition and content of its documents. Documents from the Nazi occupation period were of particular interest to the teachers.

Participants discussed the use of documents about the Great Patriotic War in education to foster historical memory and intergenerational continuity, as well as the need to engage schoolchildren with the country’s heroic past. The event featured a screening of the documentary film «On the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Brest from the Nazi Invaders», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.

The teachers also took a tour of the archive, including a visit to the archive storage facility and the archival document repair and restoration laboratory.
