On the Visit of Students from the Brest State College of Communications to the State Archives of the Brest Region

On April 8, 2026, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign, students from the Brest State College of Communications, majoring in «Documentation Support for Management», visited the State Archives of the Brest Region.

Svetlana Kozlova, Head of the Department of Records Management and Formation of the National Archival Fund, spoke in detail about the main tasks and functions of organizational archives, compiling the nomenclature of organizational files, and preparing files for transfer to the organizational archives and the state archive.

Staff from the Department of Document Use and Publication briefed the students on the history of the archives and the composition of their documents, including those on the history of the Great Patriotic War. The lecture also included documentary materials posted in the «Investigation of a Criminal Case of Genocide» section of the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus.

At the end of the lecture, the students were shown the film «On the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Brest from the Nazi Invaders», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.

During the introductory tour of the archive, the students also visited the archive storage facility and the archival document repair and restoration laboratory.
