The Zonal State Archive in Krichev presents a virtual exhibition, «Light of the Soul and Strength of Hands: Portrait of Women Rural Workers of the Krichev Region», dedicated to the Year of the Belarusian Woman.

Every era has its heroes and heroines. After the war, especially during the first post-war five-year plan, women became the main labor force in agriculture in the BSSR, comprising up to 80-90% of able-bodied collective farmers in 1944-1945. They replaced men who had gone to the front, mastering tractors, combines, and heavy manual labor, ensuring the revival of agriculture and the country’s food supply.
