When Clay Becomes a Legend. The Zonal State Archives in Molodechno continues its historical facts challenge as part of the MARG initiative project «Every Friday is Native, Our Own!»
The Zonal State Archives in Molodechno continues its online historical facts challenge as part of the MARG initiative project «Every Friday is Native, Our Own!». Today’s publication is dedicated to Ivenets ceramics — a unique phenomenon of Belarusian culture, explored through the lens of archival documents. These documents preserve the memory of the desire to preserve distinctive traditions for posterity.
The collections of the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno contain Decision No.11-15 of the Volozhin District Executive Committee dated December 31, 2019—a document recording a historical moment: a petition to designate the tradition of Ivenets ceramics using the «flyanddroyka» painting technique as an intangible historical and cultural value. Beyond the dry lines lies living history, care for heritage, and hope for the preservation of a unique craft.
