Opening of a Display Case Exhibition at the Zonal State Archives in Kobrin
A display case exhibition dedicated to the Belarusian language in official documents has opened at the State Archives. Entitled «The Belarusian Language in Official Documentation», the exhibition offers visitors a fascinating journey through time, demonstrating how the Belarusian language developed and was used in official documents over the decades.
The exhibition features authentic documents from the Soviet period that illustrate the role of the Belarusian language in everyday life and official documents. Particularly noteworthy are:
– a household register of key production indicators for farms in the village of Mozoli, Pruzhany District, for 1946-1948. This document is an invaluable source of information about the lives of villagers in the post-war years, their daily routine, economic activities, and demographic changes;
– The state deed of perpetual land ownership for the Pobeda collective farm in the Pruzhany district (1951), which attests to the process of collectivization and the formation of the collective farm system, as well as the legal formalization of land relations;
– The land register of the Borki collective farm in the Berezovsky district (1966), which is a detailed record of land plots, their boundaries, and use, allows us to trace the development of agriculture in the region.
The display case also introduces visitors to documents from the modern period that demonstrate the active use of the Belarusian language in the work of government agencies and institutions. Among them:
– decisions of the Brest regional and district authorities on the celebration of memorable days and the awarding of orders and medals. These documents reflect important events in the life of the region and the country, recognizing the achievements of citizens;
– resolutions of the councils of district departments of culture and education on holding district events, which attest to the development of cultural and educational spheres and the support of the Belarusian language and traditions;
– regulations on district departments, which regulated the activities of government agencies;
– propaganda posters, which were used to inform the public about important events.
All documents on display are in Belarusian, emphasizing its importance as the official language.
