On a Visit to the State Archives of the Brest Region by Students of Brest School No.5

On February 4, 2026, 7th-grade students from Brest Secondary School No.5 named after S.S.Smirnov visited the State Archives of the Brest Region.

As part of the event, the students visited the archive storage facility, where they learned about the organization of document storage, learned about the types of work carried out in the archival document repair and restoration laboratory, and participated in an interactive lesson solving archival puzzles.

The central part of the event was a lecture on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, based on archival documents. The lecture also utilized documentary materials posted in the «Investigation of the Criminal Case of Genocide» section on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus. The event concluded with a screening of the documentary «On the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Brest from the Nazi Invaders», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.
