Presentation of the sixth issue of the «Autograph» almanac at the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI)

On January 20, 2026, the presentation of the sixth issue of the «Autograph» almanac took place at the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI). The almanac is an annual, interdisciplinary publication founded in 2019. It publishes scholarly works in a number of humanities disciplines (archival studies, archaeography, literary criticism, textual criticism, art criticism, museology, etc.), as well as informational materials and scholarly reviews of previously published works. The presentation was attended by the issue’s authors and researchers interested in the archival and literary heritage of Belarus.

In her welcoming remarks, Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko, Director of the BSAMLI, noted that over the course of its several years of existence, the almanac has developed its own traditions and has become an important link between archives and scholarship.

Dmitry Sergeevich Samakhvalov, a leading researcher at the Belarusian State Academy of Literature and the editor of the sixth issue, compared its publication to crossing the equator: the anniversary tenth issue is still a long way off, but it’s already possible to take stock. The main result is collaboration, and this became the defining theme of the issue.

Those present at the event expressed hope for the continued publication of the almanac and the further development of its scholarly traditions. Mikhail Fedorovich Shumeiko, a professor at the Belarusian State University, urged researchers to devote more attention to the relevant interdisciplinary field of textual criticism. However, future topics and issues should not be limited to textual criticism alone; the interdisciplinary field remains broad. The almanac’s editorial board plans to reflect discussions on the use of artificial intelligence, the application of anthropological research methods, and the challenges of archival pedagogy.
