Presentation of the exhibition and anniversary concert «Maestro of Belarusian Music» – dedicated to the 135th anniversary of Nikolai Aladov’s birth

On December 19, 2025, the State Educational Institution «Nikolai Aladov Children’s Music School of Arts No.2» hosted the presentation of the exhibition «Maestro of Belarusian Music» and an anniversary concert dedicated to the 135th anniversary of Nikolai Ilyich Aladov, People’s Artist of Belarus and one of the founders of the Belarusian school of composition and music education.

A talented composer, public figure, conductor, and teacher, Nikolai Aladov played a significant role in the development of national culture. Since 1924, his life and work have been inextricably linked with Belarus. He is the author of the first dramatic and lyrical-psychological symphonies in Belarusian music. The composer’s musical legacy comprises over 500 works across various genres, including the operas «Taras on Parnassus» and «Andrei Kostenya», oratorios, cantatas, 10 symphonies, and chamber instrumental and vocal cycles. N.Aladov also created artistic arrangements of Belarusian folk songs and collected vocal folklore.

During nearly half a century of teaching at the Belarusian Music Technical School and Conservatory, N.Aladov trained a galaxy of renowned composers, musicologists, and musicians, including V.Olovnikov, A.Bogatyrev, N.Sokolovsky, S.Nisnevich, D.Zhuravlev, I.Zhinovich, A.Rusak, and others.

The exhibition «Maestro of Belarusian Music» was presented by T.Anpilogova, leading archivist at the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMA). She emphasized that in addition to archival materials from N. Aladov’s collection, the exhibition features documents from the collections of other cultural figures, as well as copies of documents recently donated to the archive-museum by the composer’s daughter, Radoslava Nikolaevna Aladova. These include manuscripts, sheet music, letters, official documents and biographical materials, memoirs, and photographs. All these documents testify to the composer’s valuable contribution to the treasury of Belarusian music.

As part of the New Year’s charity event «From the Heart», a tour was organized for a group of visitors from the State Institution «Territorial Center for Social Services for the Population of the Zavadsky District of Minsk» during the presentation of the exhibition «Maestro of Belarusian Music».

The event concluded with a festive concert. Talented students and teachers of the children’s music school performed musical works by Maestro Aladov.
