A Workshop for State Archives Employees on Working with Electronic Documents
As part of the implementation of the decision of the Board of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, a workshop for state archives employees on working with electronic documents, including organizing their archival storage at acquisition sources, was held on December 9, 2025, at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as the NARB).
Olga Vladimirovna Zayanchkovskaya, Head of the Department of Records Management, Formation, and Preservation of the National Archival Fund of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, welcomed the employees of the state archives. In her speech, Olga Vladimirovna outlined the main challenges facing state archives in organizing the transfer of electronic documents for permanent storage by acquisition sources.
As part of the seminar, Tatyana Shevchenko, Head of the Department of Records Management and Formation of the National Archival Fund of the NARB, delivered a presentation. Using the National Archives as an example, Tatyana Anatolyevna described the specifics of working with electronic documents at acquisition sources and drew the participants’ attention to the challenges that arise during the preparation of electronic documents for their transfer to the organizations’ archives. A.V.Khvalevko, Assistant to the Head of the Belarusian Center for Digitalization of Archival Activities, also presented at the seminar. He described the stages of work in the Electronic Document Archive Information System of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus during the reception and transmission of electronic documents, as well as the software and hardware settings.
During the seminar, participants asked questions and received answers.
