On the results of the «Best Reading Room of the State Archives» competition

In pursuance of subparagraph 1.11 of paragraph 1 of the Decision of the Board of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus dated January 30, 2025, No. 1/1, and in accordance with the regulations for the «Best Reading Room of the State Archives» competition, approved by Order No. 44 of the Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus dated July 18, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the Competition Regulations), the «Best Reading Room of the State Archives» competition was held from September 5 to December 5, 2025.

As a reminder, In accordance with the Regulations for the «Best Reading Room of a State Archive» Competition, the competition is organized and held by the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, jointly with the Main Justice Departments of the Regional Executive Committees, once every two years.

Results are summarized in three categories: «Best Reading Room of a Republican Archive», «Best Reading Room of a Regional State Archive», and «Best Reading Room of a Zonal State Archive».

Nineteen state archives participated in the final round.

On December 5, 2025, following the review and evaluation of the competition materials, the following decision was made by members of the «Republican Commission».

In the nomination:

«Best Reading Room of the Republican Archive» the winner is National Archives of the Republic of Belarus;

«Best Reading Room of the Regional State Archive» the winner is State Archives of the Vitebsk Region;

«Best Reading Room of the Zonal State Archives» is declared the winner to be Zonal State Archives in Molodechno.

Traditionally, the awards ceremony will be held at an extended meeting of the Board of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus following the year’s results.
