The Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa presents a document on the genocide of civilians by the Nazi invaders

The archival collection of digital copies, acting as original documents, of the USSR Extraordinary State Commission for the Investigation of Fascist Crimes contains the interview report of a witness to the massacres of civilians by the German occupiers and their accomplices – Nadezhda Fedorovna Grib, a resident of the village of Krynki in the Vasilevichi (now Rechitsa) District (F.864. Op.1. D.12. L.104-104ob). Her testimony demonstrates that the Nazis’ imagination knew no bounds in their methods of reprisal against residents of the occupied territory of the USSR. N.F.Grib recounted the following:

«In August 1943, during the harvest, when the village was burned down, my son, Mikhail Vasilyevich Grib, born in 1923, a student at the Novoborisovsky Forestry Technical School and a Komsomol member, and I were with our entire family on our estate. At that time, a detachment of 70 Germans arrived. The entire population, who were on their plots, was gathered together. Out of 300, 6 were chosen, including a girl who had worked as a saleswoman in a store before the Nazi invasion. Afterward, they were all tortured to death. They were all beaten with rifle butts, their eyes were gouged out, and their arms were twisted. The girl’s hands were cut off and her arms were gouged up to her elbows. According to many people, everyone was tortured from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Then they were all shot in one grave».
