A Patriotic Hour was held at the Gomel Region Public Associations Archive

On December 1, 2025, staff from the State Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region held a patriotic hour for students of the Gomel State Machine-Building College to commemorate the Day of Gomel’s Liberation from Nazi Invaders.

The event focused on studying the history of Gomel’s liberation using archival documents. Students learned about the memoirs of World War II veterans who participated in the city’s defense and reviewed the personal files of members of the Gomel People’s Militia Regiment and Heroes of the Soviet Union.

As part of the meeting, archivists screened the documentary film «Liberation», produced by the Belarusian State Film, Photo, and Sound Documentation Archive, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Belarus’s liberation from Nazi invaders. The event concluded with a visit to the «Witnesses of History» exhibition of archival documents dedicated to the liberation of Gomel from Nazi invaders and a tour of the archives.
