Prevention and Remembrance: Molodechno Archivists Discussed Safety with OSVOD and Shared Documents from the History of the District Organization of the Water Rescue Society

A meeting between the staff of the Molodechno Zonal State Archives and Anatoly Petyushik, Chairman of the local OSVOD organization, was held. The event was part of the national campaign «Alcohol and Fishing Are Incompatible» and was part of systematic preventative efforts to foster a culture of safety.

The guest spoke about careless deaths on the water, emphasizing that tragedies most often occur due to the violation of basic rules of conduct. According to statistics, 250 people have drowned in waterways and at home in Belarus since the beginning of the year. However, preventative and educational efforts are yielding results: in the Minsk Region, water-related mortality has decreased by 40%.

It was also noted that the swimming season in the Molodechno District was relatively calm. This was facilitated by weather conditions, the work of rescuers, and an active publicity campaign.

Molodechno archivists, in turn, introduced Anatoly Petyushik to the organization’s documents, which are stored in the collections of the regional state archive. This became a striking example of how archives not only preserve historical memory but also maintain connections with public structures, reinforcing the significance of their work.
