Participation of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) in the «Pichetov Readings – 2025»

On October 24, 2025, E.A. Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAML), took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Pichetov Readings – 2025: The People’s Feat is Immortal (on the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War)».

The «Pichetov Readings», an international academic forum for Belarusian and foreign historians, has been held at the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University (hereinafter referred to as BSU) since the late 1970s. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Victory over fascism, the conference discussed a wide range of issues, with participants’ presentations primarily focused on analyzing the themes and aspects of the history of the Great Patriotic War, both within Belarus and within the broader international political context of World War II.

Welcoming remarks were given by BSU Vice-Rector for Research, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor A.V. Blokhin; Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L. Voinov; Dean of the Faculty of History of BSU, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor A.G. Kakhanovsky; Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor V.L. Lakiza; and others.

At the section «Archives and Documents in Culture, Science, Education, and Public Administration», E.A. Makarenko presented a paper on «The Activities of the Belarusian State Museum of Literature and Art in Popularizing the Documents of Belarusian Cultural Figures – Participants of the Great Patriotic War», focusing on the specifics of the acquisition and use of documents of literary and artistic figures who participated in the war.
