On the Participation of BelNIIDAD Scientists in Academic Events of Russian Archivists

From October 7 to 14, BelNIIDAD staff participated online in a number of academic events organized by Russian archivists.

From October 7 to 11, 2025, the Fourth Archival Congress, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, was held in St.Petersburg. The congress was organized by St.Petersburg State University with the support of the Federal Archival Agency (Rosarkhiv), the Russian Society of Historians and Archivists, the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the All-Russian Research Institute of Document Science and Archival Affairs (VNIIDAD), and the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

On October 7, 2025, at the second plenary session «Archives. Documents». At the «Technologies» section, presentations were made by A.E.Rybakov, Director of the BelNIIDAD, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor («Electronic Documents: Problems, Solutions, Prospects»), and V.S.Pozdnyakov, Head of the Institute’s Archaeography Department and Candidate of Historical Sciences («Problems of Publishing Scientific and Technical Documents»).

On October 9, 2025, I.A.Goncharova, Leading Researcher in the BelNIIDAD Archival Science Department and Candidate of Biological Sciences, presented a paper entitled «Protecting Archival Documents from Mold». On the same day, L.Ch.Drozhzha, Senior Researcher in the same department, participated in the «History of Russia and Abroad in Documents» section, presenting a paper entitled «A Review of Sources for the Study of Polish-Soviet-German Relations in 1932-1939 (Polish and Belarusian Documents)». On October 10, 2025, as part of the Fourth Archival Congress in Vyborg (Leningrad Region), a Russian-Belarusian roundtable discussion was held to exchange experience in priority areas of archival work. At panel #4, I.A.Goncharova presented a paper entitled «Restoration of Archival Documents on Paper Media». At panel #5, «Using Modern Information Technologies in Archival Studies», Z.V.Antonovich, Senior Researcher in the Archival Science Department of the Belarusian Research Institute of Archival Studies and Associate Professor, presented a paper entitled «Promising Directions for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Archival Studies».

On October 14, 2025, a roundtable discussion with international participation entitled «Documentation and Archival Science in the Context of the Global Challenges of the Century» was held. The roundtable was organized by the Faculty of Archival Science and Document Science of the Historical and Archival Institute of the Russian State Humanitarian University. A.E.Rybakov participated in the roundtable, delivering a paper titled «Key Tasks for Documentation Scientists and Archivists in the Development of a Unified Electronic Document Management System».

The participation of Belarusian Research Institute of Document Management (BNRIDA) scientists in scientific forums allowed them to exchange experiences with their Russian colleagues on current issues in the development of archival science and records management, present Belarusian approaches to addressing problematic issues, and outline prospects for further cooperation.
