BGAMLI Director Elena Makarenko Guests on «Good Morning, Belarus!» on Archivist’s Day

On October 6, 2025, Elena Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI), was the guest of honor in the studio of the popular morning program «Good Morning, Belarus!» on the Belarus 1 TV channel on her professional holiday, Archivist’s Day.

During the live broadcast, Elena Makarenko spoke in detail about the mission and specifics of BGAMLI’s work. She shared the main aspects of the archive-museum’s activities.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of preserving the people’s historical memory and how archivists contribute to this process on a daily basis. The director emphasized that the archivist’s profession is not simply meticulous work with documents, but also a living connection to the past, an opportunity to revive the pages of history and make them accessible to future generations. Elena Alexandrovna also touched on the topic of promoting archival collections, discussing the importance of exhibitions, presentations, and educational projects the archive implements for the general public, researchers, and young people.
