Conducting a lesson on «Minsk in the late 18th – early 20th centuries» for students of the Minsk State College of Digital Technologies by the National Historical Archives of Belarus

As part of the cooperation agreement signed between the National Historical Archives of Belarus and the educational institution «Minsk State College of Digital Technologies», an educational event was held for students of the college on September 12, 2025. Deputy Director for Research of the National Historical Archives of Belarus Sergei Ryndin conducted a lesson for students of the college on the topic «Minsk in the late 18th – early 20th centuries». The lesson topic is dedicated to the City Day, which is celebrated on September 13, 2025.

With the help of a presentation, students were shown maps and plans of Minsk in the late 18th – first half of the 19th century (including the famous 1800 plan by Fyodor Kramer), drawings and other images of iconic Minsk new buildings of the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries: the Europa Hotel, the building of the Free Fire Society, the Abrampolsky and Livshits houses. During the lesson, S. Ryndin also spoke about the government institutions, cultural life in the city, and drew attention to the multi-confessional composition of the population of Minsk during this period.

The NIA of Belarus expresses sincere gratitude to the students and teaching staff of the Minsk State College of Digital Technologies (and personally to the director Georgy Vladimirovich Kozel) for the hospitable reception and the great interest shown in the documents of the National Historical Archives of Belarus.
