On the participation of the Head of the Publications Department of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus in the Youth Forum of the Union State «The Role of Youth in Preserving and Protecting Historical Memory»

From September 5 to 8, 2025, the Youth Forum of the Union State «The Role of Youth in Preserving and Protecting Historical Memory» was held in Mogilev.

It was attended by deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly, members of the Youth Chamber under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, youth chambers under the parliaments of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, young historians, as well as representatives of youth organizations and the scientific community of the two countries.

The Youth Forum of the Union State is held in order to strengthen friendship between the youth of Belarus and Russia. Its main objectives are to foster patriotism, preserve common historical memory and discuss issues of implementing joint youth policy. The idea of the forum is to build a dialogue with active youth to develop coordinated approaches to patriotic education, harmonize legislation and develop a strategy for the development of the youth policy of the Union State.

The forum took place at several venues at once. Mogilev State University named after A.A.Kuleshov and the Belarusian-Russian University hosted three thematic sections: «The Historical Legacy of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War as the Most Important Factor in the Patriotic Education of the Youth», «The Contribution of the Peoples of the Soviet Union to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War», «Service to the Fatherland as the Main Factor in the Sustainable Development of Belarus and Russia at the Present Stage». And the plenary session was held at the Museum of Glory of the Mogilev Region.

At the plenary session, the head of the publications department of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter – NARB) U.A.Kolobaeva gave a report «Archival data as an effective tool in the fight for historical justice», in which she emphasized the importance of using archival sources: «My profession is based on systematic work to preserve the documentary heritage of the Belarusian state. It is archival documents that are irrefutable arguments in any historical dispute. For us, who are on the side of truth and justice, it is easier than for our opponents and enemies, because we do not need to invent a «new» history! We rely on primary sources».

The forum included the 18th festival «Youth for the Union State», an exhibition and master class «Folk arts and crafts as the most important element of preserving national identity», and meetings of young people with famous political and public figures.

In addition, during the forum, a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly Commission for the Preservation and Protection of Historical Memory and a meeting of the Youth Chamber under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia were held.
