Campaign «Archives for School»

Every year during the summer holidays, the archive of public associations of the Grodno region, with the assistance of the education department of the Grodno City Executive Committee, welcomes students from gymnasiums and secondary schools in Grodno.

The year 2025 brought innovations for both the archive staff and schoolchildren – the archive moved to a new building, where archivists happily welcomed young visitors.

For the students, introductory classes were held on the activities of the archive, the composition of the stored documents, and the possibility of searching for the necessary information. The archive staff explained how documents are selected for different purposes, demonstrating this using the example of the documentary exhibition «And let the generations remember ..»., dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

In honor of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, video films prepared by the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents» were shown – «Liberation. Grodno», «No statute of limitations. Children of war»; «Khatyn. Unquenchable flame of memory». Children were also interested in videos telling about how children spent their holidays in the distant post-war years – «History comes to life in the frame. School years are wonderful!»; «History comes to life in the frame. Hurray! Vacation!».

Archivists showed individual moments of scientific and technical processing of documents, talked about the importance of ensuring the safety of documents at all stages of their creation.

The archive of public associations of the Grodno region expresses gratitude to the education department of the Grodno City Executive Committee for the assistance provided in organizing the «Archives – to school» campaign, as well as the teaching staff of educational institutions of the city of Grodno, who actively participated in this event.
