The Chairperson of the Primary Organization of the BSU of the Institution «Zonal State Archive in Glubokoe» Nelya Borovik visited memorial sites in the Mogilev region
On July 3-4, 2025, the Chairperson of the Primary Organization of the BSU of the Institution «Zonal State Archive in Glubokoe» Nelya Borovik, paying tribute to the heroic past of our country, visited several memorial sites: the memorial complex in memory of the burned villages of the Mogilev region, the memorial complex «Buynichskoye Pole», the memorial complex «Monument to Children – Victims of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945».
In the village of Borki in the Mogilev region on June 15, 1942, one of the largest punitive operations was carried out: in one day, the Nazis shot and burned more than 2 thousand civilians. In 2008, a memorial complex «In Memory of the Burnt Villages of the Mogilev Region» was erected at the site of the tragedy. It includes a Wall of Memory, where all the destroyed villages of the Mogilev Region are listed.
In memory of the heroic defense of the city of Mogilev in July 1941, the memorial complex «Buinichskoe Pole» was erected. «I was not a soldier, I was only a correspondent, but I have a piece of land that I will never forget – a field near Mogilev, where I first saw in July 1941 how our troops knocked out and burned 39 German tanks in one day ..»., – wrote Konstantin Simonov, a memorial sign to whom was unveiled on Buinichskoe Pole.
The memorial complex, located on the site of a concentration camp in the village of Krasny Bereg, is called «children’s Khatyn». In 1943, the Nazis created a concentration camp here for child donors aged 8 to 14 years. Each person who visits these memorial complexes is overwhelmed with strong emotions. They do not allow us to forget the difficult legacy of the war, calling us to remember the historical past of our country.
