A documentary exhibition dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus opened at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus

On July 2, 2025, a photo documentary exhibition dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus opened at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, prepared by the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NARB) and the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.

The decision to celebrate Independence Day on July 3, the day of the liberation of the capital of Belarus from German occupation, was made during a republican referendum in 1996 and approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated December 11, 1996, No.1 «On the establishment of a public holiday – Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus».

At the exhibition, NARB presented unique documents: A report by the head of the BShPD P. Kalinin on the concentration of partisan brigades in the city of Minsk for holding a parade of partisan brigades and formations in the capital of the BSSR; Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Belarus on the burial of the Red Army soldiers and officers who died fighting the German invaders; Appeal of the Council of People’s Commissars of the BSSR, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Byelorussian SSR and the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Belarus to the Belarusian people; Congratulatory telegram of the Military Council of the 3rd Byelorussian Front to the Belarusian partisans on the occasion of the complete liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders; Law on the commemoration of the Victory and the perpetuation of the memory of the Red Army soldiers and partisans who died fighting the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union, and others.

This holiday is dear to all Belarusians as a memory of those who defended the independence of their homeland on the battlefield. It unites all those who honor the history of their country, who through their work and talent make a daily contribution to the prosperity of their native land.
