International Archives Week at the State Archives of Minsk Region
International Archives Day is celebrated annually on June 9. On this day in 1948, the International Council on Archives was founded under the auspices of UNESCO. As part of the celebration, various events were held at the State Archives of Minsk Region.
Visitors to the reading room and employees of the institution were presented with an exhibition of archival documents «Let’s go for a walk with our families to the park!» dedicated to International Children’s Day and the 220th anniversary of the opening of the Central Children’s Park named after M. Gorky.
A master class on document restoration «Archive Workshop» was held for students of the Minsk State Linguistic and Humanitarian College who are doing their internship at the state archive. The students also met with young specialists, exchanged impressions of their internship and work in the archive. In a friendly conversation, the college students asked questions of interest to them, and also received advice from senior colleagues. At the end of the meeting, the children were shown the film «The History of the Great Victory», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents with the support of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.
Young specialists of the state archive, as well as students of the linguistic and humanitarian college, took part in the thematic quiz «Archives and Records Management». Divided into teams, the participants answered questions, recalling the key points of record keeping and the features of archiving and storing documents.
