As part of the International Archives Week, the Department of Document Use and Publication of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region prepared a stand exhibition «Journey to the Past: How to Search for Family History»

The exhibition «Journey to the Past: How to Search for Family History» is located in the reading room and is designed for a wide audience – both novice researchers and experienced specialists.

The main idea of the exhibition was to help beginners understand what an archive is and how to start working with historical documents.

The exhibition presents recommendations on preparing for the search and use of archival resources, in particular, the website «Archives of Belarus», and describes open sources of information.

When creating the exhibition, modern technologies were used – artificial intelligence. Two neural networks were used in the work: ChatGPT helped to develop a concept, which was then finalized by specialists; then Gamma, based on the concept, prepared 10 information cards telling about methods of searching for information. Each card is supplemented with illustrations, sample document inventories and QR codes that allow quick access to online resources – the websites «Archives of Belarus», the databases «Partisans of Belarus», «Memory of the People» and other platforms. Practical recommendations are supplemented with documentary materials, which makes the exhibition useful and educational for researchers.
