The Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa presents a document on naming a street in the urban settlement of Loyev after Hero of the Soviet Union P.A.Akutsionok
In October 1943, the Red Army fought hard against the German Wehrmacht on the Loyev bridgehead. Having crossed the Dnieper, Soviet soldiers rushed to the steep slopes. There were many dead and wounded, the fighters were exhausted. It seemed that the enemy was about to gain the upper hand. At the decisive moment of the battle, twenty-year-old platoon commander Pyotr Akutsionok raised his fighters to attack and rushed to the enemy positions with a red flag. Inspired by the feat of the commander, his subordinates followed his example. Artillery fire was called in to attack the enemy positions. The Nazis could not withstand the onslaught, and the trench was taken. However, in that battle, Akutsionok died a heroic death. He was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
On October 15, 1963, on the twentieth anniversary of the soldier’s death, the executive committee of the Rechitsa District Council of Workers’ Deputies (from December 25, 1962 to July 30, 1966, Loyev was part of the Rechitsa District) adopted Resolution No.298, according to which the name of Hero of the Soviet Union Petr Akutsionok was assigned to one of the streets of Loyev (F. 348. Op. 1. D. 106. L. 167).
