The State Archives of Minsk Region held a single information day dedicated to the state symbols of Belarus
Every year on the second Sunday of May, our country celebrates the Day of the State Flag, State Emblem and National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus. 30 years ago, on May 14, 1995, a referendum was held, following which new state symbols were approved.
This holiday was established by Presidential Decree No.157 of March 26, 1998. It is a reminder of the choice made by Belarusian society in favor of the most important attributes of sovereignty and independence of the Belarusian state.
As part of the celebration, the State Archives of Minsk Region held a single information day on May 13. Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Leading Researcher of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Aleksey Aleksandrovich Kapliyev spoke to the archive staff. During the lecture, he spoke about the appearance of prototypes of state symbols in world history and the formation of Belarusian symbols, and also shared interesting facts about their development.
This meeting once again reminded us that our state symbols reflect the history, values and traditions of the people, and are a link between the past, present and future of Belarus.
