On the lesson held by the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» as part of the republican campaign «Archives – to School»
On May 13, 2025, senior researcher of the State Archives of the Gomel Region Maya Vaschenko held a lesson dedicated to the people’s liberators from the Nazi invaders at the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 47 of Gomel». She told the students about the activities of partisan detachments in the occupied territory of Belarus and showed documents on the awarding of partisan heroes, which are stored in the archive. Maya Vaschenko spoke about the exploits of Eva Moskalenko, a 12-year-old intelligence officer and liaison, and Varvara Vyrvich, partisans from the Stalin Brigade of the Dobrush District. They became famous for their daring sabotage against the German occupiers, as a result of which large warehouses of ammunition and food were blown up in Novo-Belitsa.
We, the generations that did not know war, must remember the examples of heroic fortitude of Soviet soldiers, partisans and underground fighters, the selfless work of women, teenagers and children who fought and worked in the deep rear for the sake of the future, ensuring their contribution to the Great Victory.
