«History of the Great Victory»: Molodechno archivists held a film lecture for residents of the Molodechno social boarding house «Teply Dom»

On May 7, archivists of the institution «Zonal State Archive in Molodechno» visited the «Molodechno social boarding house «Teply Dom». As part of the meeting, the documentary newsreel «History of the Great Victory» of the BGAKFFD was shown. Olga Berezovskaya and Maria Mechkovskaya introduced the participants to a brief historical background-annotation to the film, focusing the attention of the audience on the importance of preserving the culture of memory of the Great Patriotic War and the work of archives in this direction.

– Conducting film lectures with a demonstration of documentary newsreels contributes to a deeper understanding and perception of events by the viewer, and also provides an opportunity to get acquainted with unique materials preserved thanks to the work of archives. People of different ages, professions and worldviews are interested in seeing true footage of the price at which Victory was achieved. All this is an important step towards preserving historical memory and fostering civic responsibility. Understanding the past, comprehending it, helps us to understand the present and build the future, – Olga Berezovskaya summed up.
