On May 7, 2025, an event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War was held at the Military Cemetery of Minsk as part of the patriotic action «People’s Laying Down»

The event was attended by: Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov, Deputy Director of the Department A.E.Tsvetkov, Chairman of the primary trade union organization of the Department Yu.A.Zadiran, heads, deputy heads, representatives of public associations of republican archival institutions.

The participants of the action laid flowers at the Stele to soldiers and partisans who died during the Great Patriotic War, and honored the memory of Soviet soldiers, partisans, underground fighters who fought for the liberation of Belarus.

Speaking to the audience, Director of the Department O.L. Voinov noted that May 9 is a sacred day for people of all generations. This is a holiday that combines joy and sorrow, pride in our history and sincere sadness about the numerous victims of the war.

O.L.Voinov also noted that the West is making efforts to introduce historical ignorance, strengthen the confrontation of peoples, sow enmity and mistrust between people. Memories of the Soviet soldier as a liberator and savior of the peoples of Europe are being erased from historical memory in every possible way. Attempts at these «revisions» are broken by the deep scientific argumentation of Belarusian and Russian archivists, scientists and the persistent rejection of pseudo-historical hypotheses by society.

In archival institutions, work continues to identify new documents that supplement and clarify the heroic chronicle of the Great Patriotic War.

Based on archival materials in the Republic of Belarus, archivists publish books, create documentaries, prepare and present exhibitions. They allow us to convey important historical events and our values to the viewer and reader.

We systematically work with young people in the framework of various forums, events, and campaigns, which forms a very important process for preserving historical memory, as well as educating society in civic consciousness, patriotism, and respect for the heroic past.

And we will continue this work. After all, historical memory is the moral core of society, strengthening the connection between generations in the context of global instability.

We will do everything possible to preserve our Great Victory!
