Victory Day for us is truly a holiday «with tears in our eyes». The republic lost too many sons and daughters due to Nazi aggression. After all, every Belarusian family has its own story associated with the Great Patriotic War. Among them are not only military stories, but also stories about life under occupation, in a camp or in a partisan detachment.

The exhibition presents 86 archival documents and photographs from the funds of the institution «Zonal State Archive in Orsha»: acts of the Orsha City Extraordinary State Commission for the Investigation of the Atrocities of the Nazi Invaders during the Occupation, certificates, summary statements, information, registers of acts on the amount of damage caused by the Nazi invaders to the city of Orsha and the Orsha District, information on the number of citizens forcibly taken away by the fascist invaders, summarized information on the victims of Nazi atrocities in the city of Orsha, the Orsha and Dubrovensky Districts of the Vitebsk Region, acts, maps of demining of territories, decisions, information, plans for the restoration of the city of Orsha in the post-war period, photographs of the city of Orsha during the war and post-war period, as well as photographs and materials from the photo album «Memories of participants in the Great Patriotic War – veterans of the 247th Guards Rifle Order of Suvorov Regiment, 84th Guards Rifle Karachev Red Banner Order of Suvorov Division, 11th (16th) Guards Red Banner and 33rd Armies», transferred to the archive by retired Lieutenant Colonel Furman Andrey Lukyanovich, a participant in defensive battles.
