Excursions within the framework of the campaign «Archives – to school» in the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region»

On the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and within the framework of the campaign «Archives – to school» on April 23-24, 2025, in the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» excursions were held for students of grades 6-8 of the State Educational Institution «Gymnasium No.3 of Mogilev».

During the excursion, schoolchildren visited the archive storage, where they got acquainted with the composition of the stored documents and the conditions of their storage.

The children were presented with a banner exhibition «Again we will approach the past with a glance», telling about the courage, heroism and fortitude of Mogilev residents during the Great Patriotic War. Copies of archival documents placed at the exhibition are dedicated to the heroes of the defense and liberation of Mogilev, the genocidal policy of the Nazi authorities in our region, the post-war restoration of industry, agriculture and public life of the city.

At the end of the events, a documentary film «History of the Great Victory» was shown in the assembly hall. It was prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents (BSACFPD) with the support of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. The film is based on newsreel and documentary materials and is dedicated to the heroic feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War.

Holding such events helps to familiarize with the features of archival work, as well as to preserve the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War.
