The «Archives for School» campaign in the State Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region

On April 14, 2025, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign, a historical memory lesson was held with students of the educational institution «Gomel State Machine-Building College» at the State Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region.

During the event, students were introduced to archival documents on the genocide of the civilian population in the Gomel Region and documents from the personal collections of participants in the Great Patriotic War.

The children studied the most interesting documents from the pre-war and post-war periods. Of particular interest were the memoirs of veterans of the Great Patriotic War who participated in the defense of Gomel, as well as the personal files of Heroes of the Soviet Union.

During the meeting, archivists organized a screening of the documentary film «Liberation», prepared by the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.

In conclusion, a sightseeing tour of the archive was held for the students, during which the children got acquainted with the main areas of the archive’s activities, the composition and content of its funds, and also visited the exhibition of archival documents «And tomorrow was Victory ..», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
