«Preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War helps strengthen national identity»: Oleg Leonidovich Voinov opened a media marathon in Molodechno

The third international media marathon «Without Statute of Limitations: Unconquered» is taking place in MolodechNo. The Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributes to this process.

«Preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War is an important component of cultural heritage. Forming patriotism through art helps strengthen national identity», – Oleg Leonidovich noted in his speech.

In addition, as part of the event, the director of the department presented the school hosting the media marathon with a set of books «No Statute of Limitations» created by the National Archives of Belarus. This gesture became a symbol of the transfer of historical knowledge to the younger generation.

The importance of publishing archival documents and publishing activities is difficult to overestimate, as they are key tools for preserving historical memory. Deputy Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus Svyatoslav Kulinok spoke to the participants of the media marathon with a presentation of books that reflect the tragedy of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, the heroism of the partisan movement and other important aspects of that time. His speech emphasized the importance of studying these materials for understanding history and forming patriotism in young people. The media marathon participants were also offered to get acquainted with the library of the National Archives of Belarus online: the publications are also available on the Internet.
