Joint civil defense exercises in BGAMLI and BGANTD
On February 25, 2025, joint comprehensive civil defense events were held at the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) and the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation (hereinafter referred to as BGANTD), timed to coincide with Civil Defense Day.
The purpose of the exercises was to practice the actions of employees in emergency situations, increase the level of readiness for rapid response, ensure the safety of employees and the safety of archival funds, and assess the state and readiness of civil defense formations (hereinafter referred to as CGDF).
In his speech, BGANTD Director Andrei Petrovich Kurakov spoke in detail about modern personal protective equipment and demonstrated to the audience the operating principle and rules for using the Chance-E self-rescuer and gas mask. As part of the theoretical part, an educational film was shown on the rules for using fire extinguishers, prepared by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus. Director of BGAMLI Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko spoke about the specifics of organizing civil defense in BGAMLI.
During the training, a practical training session was organized for evacuating personnel from the building in the event of a fire. BGAMLI and BGANTD employees promptly and harmoniously left their workplaces, following the instructions, and gathered at the designated gathering place.
The conducted exercises and inspection allowed us to check the effectiveness of the developed evacuation plans, assess the level of personnel training and the readiness of the GFGO to act in emergency situations, and identify areas for further improvement of the civil defense system in archival institutions.
