February 15, 1989 is the day of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. This is not only a holiday, but also a day of mourning, a memorable date that will not leave anyone in Belarus indifferent.
A remarkable person lives in the city of Vitebsk, a veteran of the military operations in Afghanistan, Guard Senior Warrant Officer of the Reserve Vyacheslav Konstantinovich Belous.
At the beginning of 1986, Komsomol organizer Belous volunteered for Afghanistan, where he served as the secretary of the Komsomol organization of the 1st parachute battalion of the 350th GPDP of the 103rd Vitebsk Guards Airborne Division. 50 combat operations, including 40 helicopter landings, received two combat injuries.
He has awards: the Order of the Red Star, the Order «For Service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR» 3rd degree, the medal «For Courage», the medal «For Military Merit», a special badge of the Minister of Defense of the USSR «For Mine Clearance» and the badge of the Central Committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League «Military Valor». He was at the origins of the famous ensemble «Blue Berets».
After the war, Belous worked at the Rubovskaya Secondary School (Vitebsk), led the scout section and was the head of the search club. Now Vyacheslav Konstantinovich works at the Vitebsk Polytechnic College and teaches pre-conscription training at the Sollertinsky Music School.
He is also a soloist of the folk song ensemble «Svitanak» and an actor of the folk theater «Courage».
Vyacheslav Konstantinovich keeps a unique personal photo archive of military operations in Afghanistan. Some of these photos were seen by the employees of the State Archives. The archivists also heard an amazing story about the military brotherhood of Soviet soldiers and learned a lot about the history of the Afghan war.
The one and a half hour meeting passed in one breath!
We wish Vyacheslav Konstantinovich Belous many years and many, many new creative meetings.
