Institution «Zonal State Archives in Krichev» at events within the framework of the pilot project «Young Archivist», within the framework of the republican action «Archives for School»

On February 14, 2025, within the framework of the republican action «Archives for School», as well as within the framework of the republican action «Young Archivist» for students of grade 4 «B» of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.1 of Krichev», a thematic conversation «Afghanistan – Living Memory» was held and a mobile exhibition was prepared dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers and the 36th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

Victoria Kondratenko told schoolchildren about the joint military actions of the Soviet troops and government troops of Afghanistan, about the courage of those who fought and the difficult conditions in which they had to fight, about the assistance that Soviet soldiers provided to the local population. This war lasted for ten long years. More than 3.5 thousand people from the Mogilev region went to that war, 118 of them did not return home, seven of them were our fellow countrymen. Young men died on a foreign, inhospitable land, leaving only good memories of themselves and the Order of the Red Star, which one of them was awarded posthumously. These are Viktor Volchkov, Sergey Dubrovin, Vladimir Karpov, Leonid Kravtsov, Sergey Lugovoy, Igor Maslenkov and Yuri Golovnev.
