«Archives for School»: participation of the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» in the film hour «Memory of Brave Hearts»

On February 7, 2025, representatives of the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» took part in the film hour «Memory of Brave Hearts», dedicated to the day of the young anti-fascist hero. The event, which took place in the «Cosmos» cinema in Mogilev, brought together students of grades 7-9 of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.20», State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.34», State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.40» of the city of Mogilev.

In the foyer of the cinema, the schoolchildren were introduced to the banner exhibition «Let’s Look Back Again with Our Eyes on the Past», dedicated to the history of Mogilev during the Great Patriotic War, by Lyudmila Tsalabanova, Deputy Director and Chief Curator of the Funds of the Institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region».

During the event, the feature film «A Wreath of Sonnets» was shown. The film tells the story of how, at the very end of the war, two boys escape from school and make their way to the front. In the bustle of the train station, the fugitives lose each other — and soon one of them will have to accept his first battle.

Before the screening, the leading archivist of the Department of Scientific Use of Documents and Information of the Institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region», Aleksey Shvyryov, spoke. He presented to the assembled schoolchildren and teachers a presentation on «The History of the Partisan Movement in Documents of Personal Origin Funds», and spoke about the fund-creators and participants of the partisan movement and the most interesting documents from their personal funds.

The event, addressed to students of Mogilev schools, helped them to gain new knowledge about the history of their native city through archival documents and photographs.
