«History of Improvement: A Look Through Documents». Archivists of the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno have prepared a mobile exhibition
As part of the Year of Improvement, the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno presented the exhibition «History of Improvement: A Look Through Documents». It became a bridge between the past and the present. The exposition, based on copies of archival materials, both takes visitors to the era of the post-war revival of the city, revealing the stages of infrastructure development, the creation of green areas, and demonstrates modern ways of solving communal problems.
The focus is on the decisions of executive committees, as well as the minutes of meetings of the standing commission on housing and communal services and improvement. In total, more than 70 copies of documents are evidence of the hard work with which the city was restored after the destruction of war.
For example, one of the decrees of 1946 recorded the decision to plant thousands of trees along the central streets, which marked the beginning of the modern squares of MolodechNo.«The decision to create Victory Park in 1946 is not just a line in the minutes. It is a symbol of hope that united generations», notes Elena Tomkovich, head of the department for the use and publication of documents.
The post-war years were a time of heroic efforts. The documents tell how, in conditions of a shortage of resources, the authorities and residents worked together to clear rubble, restore water supply and electrification.
Of particular interest are the materials on the development of the road network: the minutes of the discussion of the construction of key highways, which today are the «arteries» of the city. It is worth noting the importance of modernizing public transport and pedestrian infrastructure (for example, the decision to allocate a plot of land for the construction of the Zaslavl-Radoshkovichi road of national importance).
The exhibition «History of Improvement: A Look Through Documents» is not only a look into the past, but also a reminder that every park, street or bridge becomes a legacy for future generations. By preserving memory, we learn to appreciate the present and build a meaningful future.
