Exhibition «Feats and Fates of Partisans in Documents» as part of the «Unity Marathon» in Grodno

On January 17-18, 2025, a large-scale social and cultural event «Unity Marathon» was held in Grodno. As part of the event, a traveling exhibition «Feats and Fates of Partisans in Documents» was presented at the Grodno State Historical and Archaeological Museum (New Castle). This is a joint project of the Publishing House «SB. Belarus Today», the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter – NARB) and the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents. The project tells the history of the partisan struggle through the prism of the biographies of its participants.

During a working visit to Grodno, the exhibition was visited by the Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov. Documents on the participation of natives of the regional center and the Grodno region in the partisan and underground movement were specially selected for the presentation in GrodNo.The visitors with interest studied the presented documents and photographs, asked questions, and used the opportunity to find information about their heroic ancestors in the database of the Internet portal «Partisans of Belarus».

In total, the NARB funds currently contain documents on 374 thousand partisans and 70 thousand underground fighters. In total, there are 444 thousand heroic destinies. At present, the Publishing House «Belarus Today» together with the NARB has digitized more than one and a half million pages of archival documents and placed 227 thousand names of participants in the partisan and underground movement and information about them in the database.

Deputy Director of the NARB E.A.Stukanova conducted excursions and presentations of the project for visitors to the event on January 17-18. Hundreds of Grodno schoolchildren visited the exhibition these days.
