«Archives for School»: Excursion for students of the educational institution «Mogilev State Polytechnic College»

As part of the «Archives for School» campaign, on December 12, 2024, students of the educational institution «Mogilev State Polytechnic College» visited the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region».

Leading archivist of the department of scientific use of documents and information Alexander Petukhov introduced the students to the history of archival affairs in the Mogilev region, the specifics of the work of archivists, as well as the banner exhibition «Again, let’s look closer to the past», which is dedicated to the history of the city of Mogilev during the Great Patriotic War.

The children were shown the documentary film «Liberation», prepared by the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents» (Dzerzhinsk), dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, and a conversation was held on the topic «Liberation of Mogilev in 1944».

Then the excursion continued in the document digitization laboratory, where the children were able to see the process of digital processing of archival files. The students also visited the archive storage, where they got acquainted with the composition of the stored documents, the conditions and mode of their storage.
