An event dedicated to the liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders was held in the state archive of public associations of the Gomel region

On November 21, 2024, on the eve of the Day of Liberation of the city of Gomel from the Nazi invaders, employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel region» held a thematic event with students of the educational institution «Gomel State Technical University named after P.O.Sukhoi».

The main topic of the event was the study of the history of the liberation of Gomel in archival documents. The students were particularly interested in the personal files of the members of the Gomel People’s Militia Regiment who defended Gomel in August 1941, the memories of veterans of the Great Patriotic War who participated in the defense of Gomel, as well as the personal files of the Heroes of the Soviet Union.

In addition, the students were familiarized with archival documents on the genocide of civilians in the Gomel region and documents from the funds of personal origin of the participants of the Great Patriotic War.

At the end of the event, the archivists answered numerous questions from students and conducted a sightseeing tour of the archive.
