New receipt of documents from the personal archive of Pyotr Savelyevich Vasilevsky in BStAMLI

On November 19, 2024, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter – BStAMLA) received documents from the writer, playwright, screenwriter, director Pyotr Savelyevich Vasilevsky.

Peter Savelyevich was born on May 15, 1922 in the village of Semenovka, Mogilev region. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. Since 1942, he was a correspondent for the army newspaper Stalinist Fighter. He was wounded twice. In 1946, he was sent to the Republican Party School at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Bolsheviks of Belarus. In 1947, he entered the Moscow Art Theater studio school and in the same year transferred to the directing department of the All-Union Institute of Cinematography, from which he graduated in 1953. Since 1952, he has been the director of the Belarusfilm film studio. He has been engaged in creative activities since 1988.

The biographical documents of P.S.Vasilevsky were received by the BStAMLA. Among them: the service record of a serviceman of the Red Army (1940-1943), information from a special correspondent of the editorial office of the newspaper Stalinist Youth (1945-1946), the magazine of satire and humor Vozhyk, etc., a certificate of exemption from military service in 1943, a certificate of discharge from military service in 1943, a certificate of employment, a pass, a certificate, etc.).

The management of the archive-museum expresses gratitude to the head of the Library Marketing Department of the Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus, Yulia Nikolaevna Sermyazhko, for assistance in obtaining documents of value for studying Belarusian documentaries about the Great Patriotic War and patriotic education of young people.
