Opening of the joint exhibition of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photographic Documents and the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus «Andrey Zaspitsky. Belarus is in the heart»
On November 6, 2024, employees of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photographic Documents (hereinafter – BStAFFD) took part in the grand opening of the exhibition «Andrei Zaspitsky. In the heart is Belarus», which is a joint project of the BGAKFFD and the Art Museum. The grand opening took place at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. In 2024 It is the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Honored Artist of the BSSR, laureate of the State Prize of the BSSR, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, participant of the Great Patriotic War, sculptor Andrei Mikhailovich Zaspitsky, and the exhibition is dedicated to the work of the master.
Andrei Zaspitsky belongs to the galaxy of artists whose creative path took place in the post-war period, and in many ways determined the fate of the school of Belarusian sculpture in the second half of the 20th century. Zaspitsky’s works are an integral part of the recognizable image of Minsk and Belarus – these are sculptural compositions on the towers of the Forecourt and the monument to Adam Mickiewicz on the City Rampart in the capital, a monument in honor of the Soviet patriot mother in Zhodino, a monument to F.Skorina in Polotsk.
For the design of the exposition from the funds of the BStAFFD, photographic documents from the I.N.Berlin photo collection and BelTA photo chronicles were provided, illustrating the sculptor’s daily work in his workshop, meetings with colleagues, solemn events, as well as newsreels from the Soviet Belarus newsreels for 1955 and 1957 about the work on the sculptures of A.Mickiewicz and A.S.Pushkin, which they became an excellent addition to the main exposition component, which includes sketches and projects of the main works of A.M.Zaspitsky.
During the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the director of the BStAKFFD A.N.Gonchar made a welcoming speech, and an agreement on cooperation between the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photographic Documents and the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus was also signed.
The exhibition is located in the exhibition building of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus at K.Marx Street, 24, floor 4, Hall 3 until December 8, 2023.
